2023 Presidential Elections: Hon. Jelili, Enilolobo Sponsor Party Members Against Tinubu's Aspiration
Enilolobo, Jelili, Other Council Chairmen Divide Alimosho, Canvass For VP Osinbajo, Create The Alimosho Progressives
Reformer Olusegun Damilare-Ojo, the most vocal of the media aides to Alhaji Abdulahi Enilolobo, boldly reported their attendance of of the first ever Southwest Progressives Youth Summit held at Liberty Stadium, Ibadan on Saturday, February 5, 2022. According to him, it was a well attended and successful summit. The big questions remain, what was the objective of the summit? Who were the organizers and financiers of this 'succesful' summit held a year to the general election? Answers to the above may be easily located within the report of the actual activities that happened at the venue of the event.
As expected, beautiful speeches were delivered and every participant moved freely around to socialize, as normal, within the attendant youth. As the program was ongoing, there were several banners of only one presidential aspirant displayed and even taken round Liberty Stadium. Despite Olusegun's claim that different Presidential aspirants were duly represented and showcased, only the banners of our highly respected Professor Yemi Osinbajo were paraded ans displayed at the Liberty Stadium.
In other words, the event was basically for Osinbajo and not all aspirants as wrongly claimed by Olusegun.
Without mincing words, Osinbajo is duly qualified for this exalted office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and like other aspirants, he has the democratic right to aspire for it. In the same vein, citizens are free to openly support whoever they choose to support without fear of being molested or castigated. Where there is an issue is when people try to double deal by pledging loyalty to two aspirants at the same time - such attitudes are not only condemnable but its perpetrators are better sent to the gallows!
Participants of this groundbreaking event were largely youth from Lagos and mainly from Alimosho Federal Constituency. A source who pleaded anonymity revealed that the trip and mobilisation to the event was largely sponsored by Hon. Suleiman Jelili, the Council Chairman for Alimosho Local Government, who also doubles as the most trusted ally of Alhaji Abdulahi Enilolobo among the six council Chairmen from Alimosho Federal Constituency. This simply confirms the full support of Alhaji Abdulahi Enilolobo, who understands the game he is playing very well. However, the source explained that Enilolobo ensured that the six council Chairmen funded the project from the Commonwealth of the people of Alimosho Federal Constituency. Before now, Enilolobo had laid always made claim to be an undisputable follower of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, though recent happenings are proving otherwise. What a character!
Funnily enough, when the Conference 57 representatives recently paid a courtesy visit to Gov. Gboyega Oyetola in Osun state, none of the six council Chairmen from Alimosho attended despite the fact that Hon. Jelili of Alimosho was the group's Organising Secretary.
For clarity, it is imperative to stress that nobody is against Enilolobo and his loyalists supporting the yet-to-be declared presidential ambition of Professor Yemi Osinbajo,
as it is no longer news around Alimosho that, Aregbesola, Enilolobo's master too is already canvassing for the Vice President. Like every other Nigerian, it is their legitimate, democratic and fundamental right which nobody is ready to challenge - the bone of contention here is that, you cannot eat your cake and have it. In fact, an adage in Yoruba says, 'a kii jẹ meji l'aba Alade', meaning one cannot be in two places at a single time. Enilolobo and his loyalists should desist from playing the ostrich and double dealing. We will never allow them to seize the structures we already built for Asiwaju and use same for another aspirant.
We are hereby making a very strong appeal to the GAC members, Gov. Sanwoolu, the newly sworn-in APC state Chairman and the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, to quickly checkmate these dual loyalists, before they further mislead many unsuspecting party members as it was reliably gathered that many of the party members they conveyed to Ibadan did not know why they were being conveyed until they got there.
