Yayi Retires To GAC

Yayi Gains Freedom From Alimosho G-18 Bondage

As the polity continues to heat up, its players continue to strategize for relevance and continuity. Before now, the senator representing Lagos West, Senator Solomon Adeola Olamilekan Yayi had been scampering for a ticket in the Senate to represent Lagos West for the third term - a feat which has been strongly resisted by residents of Lagos West in their quest for a new rep.

During the protest, the APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu stylishly intervened urging the Yayi to shelve his third term ambition, with a promise to compensate him with another dignified offer. For fear of being let down, the Senator has been scouting for his third term ambition in Yewa, Ogun State. But Asiwaju, being a man of his words, who has never been known to renege on his words, fulfilled his promise yesterday, Tuesday, April 20, 2021 when Yayi, along with the two other Senators representing Lagos and the Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, was appointed into the Governor's Advisory Council (GAC). Other persons appointed along with Senator Solomon Adeola Olamilekan Yayi,

are Senators Oluremi Tinubu (Lagos Central) and Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru (Lagos East), and Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila. This is an all-inclusive appointment as no Lagos Senator has been left out in the honourable appointment.

The GAC is the highest decision-making body of the Lagos All Progressives Congress. The apex group is chaired by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Going by the operations, responsibilities and structure of the group, Yayi might just have been sent to retirement chamber from elective politicking. Whichever way it goes, Asiwaju has fulfilled his promise of compensating Yayi with an honourable appointment in place of his pursuit for a third term ticket. Also, the appointment compensates the good people of Alimosho for the removal of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola from the Council.

In Asiwaju, there are several lessons to be learnt on how to handle complicated political situations.
