Jelili vs Assembly: Lagos Assembly Suspends Sitting Over The Absence Of Enilolobo
On November 30, 2020, the Lagos State House of Assembly invited Alimosho Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Jelili Sulaiman to appear in the House along with his fellow accomplices, Alhaji Abdullahi Enilolobo, a self-proclaimed and self-declared Apex Leader and other key functi onaries of the Council. The team was invited over a petition alleging the Chairman of corruption, Conversion of public funds and others. According to the letter of invitation, he was to meet and discuss with members of the Committee on Public Accounts.
In response to the invitation, the Chairman honoured the visit but not with his conspirators. This act of disregard infuriated the committee, who in a very strong tone and clear words, explained that the sitting would not hold until the the Council Chairman produced Enilolobo. However, he has been re-ordered to come with the following persons from his Council:
Alhaji Abdullahi Enilolobo,
All elected Councillors,
Council Supervisors,
Council Manager,
Council Treasurer,
And other management staff involved in the Council financial transactions and awards of contracts. The new invitation emphasized that the Chairman and his team should, unfailingly appear before the House on Thursday, November 3, 2020.
While the Honourable Chairman was at the Assembly fidgeting and shivering, his foot soldiers sat behind their keypads at the comfort of their homes, contesting the constitutionality of their Apex Leader.
