How Enilolobo, The Self-Acclaimed Apex Leader Of The Almighty G-18 In Alimosho Is Desperate To Hold On To Power At The Detriment Of Good Governance
How Enilolobo, The Self-Acclaimed Apex Leader of Almighty G18 of the Ruling Party in Alimosho is Desperate to Hold on to Power At The Detriment Of Good Governance in Alimosho.
“You do not, necessarily need atomic bombs to destroy a nation. Politicians who value their pockets than the life of citizens do that every day.”
We cannot wish away the indisputable fact that Nigeria became the poverty capital of the world due to the mismanagement, maladministration of those we call leaders. The recent ENDSARS Protest that culminated in the looting of a warehouse in various parts of the country remains a litmus test that showed how the crop of leaders at the helms of affair at both State and National levels have failed to impact meaningfully into the lives of average Nigerians. These politicians value their pockets more than the welfare of average Nigerians. They care less about the alarming rate of 13.9 million unemployed youths, forgetting the fact that a high rate of unemployed youth is synonymous with increased insecurity and poverty - a situation that is also seen as a ticking time bomb.
Alimosho has recently been in the news for the wrong reason, as usual. For years, the most populous Local Government has been battling maladministration, despite the huge allocations to the Local Government received from FAAC monthly. There are no meaningful projects to justify that Alimosho receives such allocations as we are faced with bad road networks, poor security and non-existence of empowerment programs for the teeming youth of Alimosho.
Despite this sad and pitiable condition, our political leaders have left Alimosho Local Government at the mercy of the good people of the local government. It was learned that just for one embattled political leader to retain his appointed position, over 50 million nairas must be coughed out by the elected officers just to organize an ill-conceived solidarity walk for their embattled apex political leader. If we may ask, what makes this man this special? Why the senseless walk for an imposed man who has never held any elective position? Why must they waste over 50millions to organize a walk for this man when this same money could be channeled into empowering the many unemployed youths in the local government? Have they not learned from the just organized #ENDSAR protest?
We learned that Alhaji Enilolobo recently felt apart from his political enclave, the reason why he, through his political grandsons, has ordered the release of the mouth-watering money to stage the so-called solidarity walk for him is just to prove he is still 'in charge'. This is highly laughable but sadly, it is the gospel truth that despite the hardship the people of Alimosho are going through at this period, some heartless, egoistic and egocentric group of political leaders are somewhere planning to organize what literary means 'setting over 50 million nairas on fire', just to prove a cheap political point. Who did we offend in Alimosho?
The New Alimosho Movement, a group born out of the need to liberate the people of Alimosho from the shackles of these selfish leaders and to promote good governance in the local government, which is important to breed a better tomorrow for the coming generations, has, therefore, taken it as our responsibility to hold any leader who has resolved to remain as an unrepentant obstacle towards the development of the most populous local government in Nigeria.
Quoting the great leader of India, Mahatma Gandhi, who said "it is wrong and immoral to seek to escape the consequences of one's acts". NAM will ensure none of these leaders escapes the consequences of their undemocratic act if they persist with this purported solidarity walk in favor of one self-acclaimed apex leader of APC in Alimosho known as Alhaji Enilolobo. Posterity will judge us if we fail to voice out against this unnecessary wastage for just one political leader to retain his political post in Alimosho. This act should be condemned by all well-meaning people of Alimosho. We, therefore, reiterate that there will, surely be consequences if they persist with this undemocratic act. This, we can promise them all!
It is no longer news that Enilolobo’s leadership has brought nothing but untold hardship, destitution and division to the people of Alimosho, though, he is not, by any means holding any elective post in any of the six Councils in Alimosho but as the political leader in Alimosho, he plays the piper and dictates the tune to his stooges at the various helms of affairs in Alimsoho and the ripple effects are being felt in every sphere within Alimosho. He is so powerful that when he dictates to those at the helms of affair, they dare not question his ‘godfatherism’ order - the reason is crystal clear. He made them who they are at the moment, hence, they have to be loyal to him at the expense of the people of Alimosho.
Alhaji Enilolobo’s egocentric leadership style has made him lose grip on the majority a party stalwart. His selfish style of leadership, as well as his passion to amass wealth for himself at the detriment of the over six million residents of Alimosho has made him adopt the 'Mobutuistic' leadership style - a style of leadership coined from erstwhile President of defunct Zaire, Col. Joseph Mobutu. Mobutu seized power and declared himself president in a November 1965 coupe. He, subsequently changed his name to Mobutu Sese Seko, as well as that of the country, to Zaire. Mobutu retained his position for 32 years through several sham elections, as well as through brutal force. Ethnic strife and civil war, touched off by a massive inflow of refugees in 1994 from the conflict in Rwanda and Burundi, led in May 1997 to the toppling of the Mobutu regime by rebellion backed by Rwanda and Uganda and fronted by Laurent Kabila.
It is the absurdity of the highest order for a man who is not elected to call on all the six elected Chairmen, 36 Councilors, the Senator representing Lagos South West, The House of Representatives Member, and the two Assembly Members to raise a whopping sum of #50 million nairas just to organize his purported solidarity walk for himself. This would not be tolerated in Alimosho. We would not allow them to use our commonwealth to organize a solidarity walk for a Mobutu in Alimosho to retain power.
We, therefore, advise them to desist from the purported plan to stage a solidarity walk for Alhaji Abdullahi Enilolobo and failure to desist will leave us with no option than to go against the directive of the Inspector General of Police and stage a very massive counter walk which shall be tagged walk for good governance and we will ensure we pay all these egoistic leaders an unofficial visit at their various houses and will ensure they are well entertained.
We, therefore, call on all the elective leaders of Alimosho Local Government to, with immediate effect, desist from organizing a show of shame for one embattled leader. Alimosho cannot afford the wastage at this post-COVID and after the #ENDSARS protest. We urge you to channel the said amount into meaningful programs that will impact positively the lives of the teeming youths of Alimosho.
We, also ask them to wake up to their responsibilities. Our roads are in bad shapes, the poor security condition in Alimosho needs urgent attention, and the welfare of the good people of Alimosho should also be improved upon, Alhaji Enilolobo is not greater than the entire people of Alimosho. He contributes next to nothing to the IGR of Alimosho, therefore, he deserves no such amount. A word is enough for the wise.
God bless Alimosho.
The New Alimosho Movement.
