ANNOUNCER:
HON. TOSIN FATOKI
ALIMOSHO PARTY CHAIRMAN
Some party loyalists faulted the title of the announcer, saying the party is currently being managed by caretaker Committees across board. They insisted that it the announcer should be Alimosho Caretaker Party Chairman.
Responding to demands and questions fr followers whether to attend or not, Alhaji Abiodun Ejigbadero, a leader in Ward G, Alimosho Local Government, responded in the affirmative, permitting his followers to attend the meeting.
But before departure, he gave a strong order that they must avoid every provocation that could lead to violence. In his words, "I would only permit you to go if you can assure me that you would not create scenes at the meeting. All I want is, go and listen to the update and come back." To further ensure the order was not defied, he instructed an elderly man, Mr. Ayodeji Kolawole to go with the team.
The meeting was attended by other party notables from Alimosho. Among the attendees were Mr. Fatoki, the LG Caretaker party chairman, Eng Ojo, Baba Obisesan, Hon. Olomu, Hon. Qudus Babs-Kareem and a host of others. As usual, it began with a prayer and the short meeting ended within an hour. Following the instructions of Ejigbadero, Mr Kolawole led the group out of the venue. On getting to the office, Kolawole received a call that one of their followers, in the person of Monsuru Sekoni had been apprehended and was under attack. All attempts to get to him proved abortive as he did not pick his calls. Without waste of time, Kolawole sent a team to go see what was happening. The team returned shortly thereafter with Monsuru, whom they met on their way to Abati Primary School, the venue of the meeting.
On arrival, he narrated his ordeal as follows:
"Immediately after the meeting, I was on my way out when I saw Sir G. I decided to stop to say hello and immediately I finished with him, I was leaving when I was attacked by a group of armed boys right inside the venue. Some if them were saying, I was Ejigbadero's boy and that I should be dealt with. They took me to an unknown place inside Shasha. They beat me and collected my wrist watch, phone and ordered me to make a transfer of N200,000 to them. I told them I did not have such money and fortunately, Sir G reappeared and ordered them to stop touching me. He accused them of causing chaos and disrupting the peace in the community. He ordered a bike to take me out of that vicinity to a safe place. In pains, I climbed the motorcycle and left but I had to jump off the bike after realizing the bike rider was also among them."
Monsuru appeared in torn clothes and swollen face. It is disheartening that a party leaders that should protect the rights and lives of their followers are the same people hiring thugs to to molest them.
Other party members present attested to seeing some of the thugs with weapons and other fetish items. Among the attackers were one Seun and Jasper who were found with guns. They were prepared for crisis but we only went there for a meeting. They were badly pained that other members of Ejigbadero team came and left without them executing the dastard act for which they were prepared.
