Alimosho APC Compensates Esho, Teacher's Families With N50,000, 5 Years After Death

Elections in Nigeria have always been a do-or-die affair - a system that has led to the deaths of many party loyalists. The 2015 general election was no different, as it recorded the deaths of many promising young men who stood to defend others and safeguard their votes. Alimosho had its share of these bitter pills as it lost two prominent sons, Yinka Cauckery aka Esho and Adeleke Akintoye aka Teacher.

Both men were shot after the election around 2am when they followed their leader, Alhaji Abiodun Ejigbadero to the collation center, following the ambush of Hon. Olufemi Adebanjo aka Eyes-Open and Hon. Sulaiman Jelili by hooligans working for the opposition, PDP. In the process of votes counting, hoodlums seethed the collation center which, after knowing that they had been trapped, a call was made to Ejigbadero for rescue, and within a short time, he arrived the venue with some of his followers to avert crisis and ease tension. Though he succeeded in escaping with both men, two of his boys were shot, leading to serious injuries. Both men died a few days after.

One of the men, Esho had a wife with 4 children, and Teacher, a wife with 3 children. All efforts to prevent them from dying proved abortive, as Ejigbadero ran helter-skelter to ensure they got back on their feet. During this time, he made several calls to the politicians, for whom they had worked for funds but they did not respond to his demands until after the death of both men.

5 years down the line, following a series of attacks from Alimosho Liberation Movement, a group of party youth calling for the emancipation of Alimosho politics from godfatherism and poor leadership, the politicians who had, for a very long time, abandoned their people, began to do so many things they had shown no care for since their inception into their respective public offices.

Before the agitation, all representatives in Alimosho had fled the constituency, as they did not even show up in their constituency during the lockdown and the more recent EndSARS crisis but immediately after the social media attacks from Alimosho Liberation Movement, they hurriedly returned home to show some support and weak generosity. They shared motorcycles, paid ward excos' salaries they had been owed for months, proceeded to call for emergency meetings, where members were given insignificant funds to retain their loyalty, and many other silly acts of generosity.

Several other posts from Alimosho Liberation Movement, with an interview Alhaji Abiodun Ejigbadero, conducted by Alimosho TV, where he described the ordeal of party members, including how Esho and Teacher died and their families abandoned. This prompted the politicians to invite both women for assistance after 5 good years on the 19th November, 2020 over an incident that occurred on February 28, 2020. People who knew what these women have been going through called to congratulate them, expecting that they would be given assistance that could make them forget ever being poor. To the dismay of everybody, they were handed cheques of fifty thousand naira each. The disappointed onlookers uttered profanity to the politicians for their ill-generosity, saying the amount was just ridiculously too meager to be regarded as compensation for women who lost their husbands to a cause, they have kids to cater for. Should we say this money is the worth of their life for the party they served till death? Should this peanut change be regarded as payment for the lost lives? Is it supposed to be for the family upkeep? So many people have cursed them for their heartlessness

While many people feel Enilolobo and his cabal are truly due for retirement, others wish the crisis continues. According to the latter group, the crisis has made them receive a bit of attention from their leaders who had abandoned them for years. Such people prayed for the conveners of the struggle and begged for it to continue.
